BIOGRAPHY
Shane Roderick (b. 1998) is a multi-faceted, up-and-coming percussionist, composer, and educator based in Miami, Florida, pursuing his DMA in Classical Percussion Performance at the Frost School of Music under the direction of Svet Stoyanov. Shane holds a graduate teaching assistantship and Henry Mancini Institute Fellowship within the school of music.
As a performer, Shane has traveled throughout the entire country performing through several mediums of percussion. As an avid proponent for performing his own compositions and high-level percussion chamber music, he has performed significant orchestral repertoire with musical figures such as Ray Chen, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Time for Three. Shane’s most recent performance took place at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York, performing the chamber music of Gabriela Ortiz. Other notable performances include participating in the 2022 Great Plains International Marimba Competition receiving a 2nd place finish in the duo category and 4th place finish in the solo category, performing in the 2019 PASIC All-Star Ensemble under the direction of James Campbell, earning a performer position in the 2021 PMA honors recital at Lamar University, as well as performing in World Class DCI/WGI groups such as the Bluecoats, the Blue Knights, Monarch Independent, and the Colts. Currently, Shane is an active member of the Frost Percussion Group and the Henry Mancini Orchestra at the Frost School of Music.
Shane continues to be an active composer within the field of percussion and has had his pieces played at the international level including venues such as PASIC. He has an immense passion for composing electroacoustic percussion repertoire without any need for a click track, and continues to expand this repertoire not only through solos, but non-click track electroacoustic chamber works as well, performing and collaborating with artists such as the Arx Duo. His works have been purchased in various parts of the world including Chile, China, Italy, Ireland, Japan, and Taiwan. Shane also actively arranges for the JMU Marching Royal Dukes marching percussion section. Shane currently self-publishes his works and is also published through Cangelosi Publications.
